Results vary
Implant treatment is surgery. The figures we quote from research describe groups of patients, not you. Healing times, comfort, appearance and how long the work lasts all differ from person to person. Nothing on this site is a promise of a particular outcome.
Medicines and medical conditions
Several of our articles discuss conditions such as diabetes, osteoporosis and heart disease, and medicines such as blood thinners and bone-strengthening drugs. Never stop or change a prescribed medicine because of something you read here. Talk to the doctor who prescribes it and tell your dentist about every medicine you take.
If something is wrong now
- Heavy bleeding that will not stop with firm pressure, swelling that affects your breathing or swallowing, or a high temperature after surgery: call 999 or go to A&E in the UK.
- Severe pain, swelling or a loose implant that needs advice today: contact your treating clinic, or NHS 111 in the UK (111.nhs.uk).
